Battle for the Buoy



NCAA rules with the following exceptions:

  1. 1 time-out per game, per team.
  2. No time-outs in the final 5 minutes of a half.  Each team is granted one timeout per game.
  3. Winning team must "Keep it in the Box" in the final 2 minutes of game.  Referees will instruct the player to "Get it in the Box" and provide a 10 second count to get it in the box when possession is gained or when a player crosses midfield with the ball.



  • All teams will play 3 games against teams in their Tier/pool on Saturday in a round robin format.
  • Tier 1 is divided into 2 pools; Heros & Legends.  Tier 2 has just 1 pool of  4 teams.
  • Game Formats:
    • Saturday games will consist of 2 - 22 minute halves, with a 5 minute halftime and 6 minutes in between games.
    • Sunday games will consist of 2 - 25 minute halves, with a 5 minute halftime and 5 minutes in between games.

  • After Saturday’s Pool Play, Tier 1 & Tier 2 teams will be seeded 1 – 8.  Tier 1 & Tier 2 teams will compete seperately in single elimination playoff brackets.  Here is Sunday's Playoff Schedule.​


  • Tier 1 Quarter Final Matchups will be as flollows:
    • Heros #1 vs Legends #4
    • Legends #2 v Heros #3
    • Legends #1 vs. Heros #4
    • Heros #2 vs. Legends #3
  • Tier 2 Semifinal Matchups will be as flollows:
  • Tier 2 - #1 vs. Tier 2 - #4
  • Tier 2 - #2 vs. Tier 2 - #3
  • Any team that pulls a NO-SHOW on Sunday, will not be asked back to the event in the future.  Results from the 2021 tournament will influence seeding at the 2022 CCLax Battle for the Buoy.



Sunday seeds will be based on the following:

1.  Winning percentage

2.  Head to head play

3.  Goals against

4.  Goal differential

5.  Coin toss
